Features:

The three Premium Packages offered by WeddingOrg are based on the number of:

  1. Category pages on your site (you may order 8, 10 or 12 pages)
  2. Popup pages on your site (you may order 6, 7, or 8 popup pages)
  3. Photos on your site (you may order 64, 72, or 80 photos)

WeddingOrg suggest 14 different categories for you to consider when deciding on how many pages you would like. We have combined all the important information in a clearly numbered list, below, so you can more easily see the suggested content of each category page:

Category Page 1: Home Page

  • Welcome text e.g. "Welcome to our Wedding Website"
  • Wedding Date
  • Names of Bride and Groom
  • Music with a choice of 3 songs
  • Visitor counter
  • Optional countdown to your wedding date e.g. 111 days, 1 hour, 1 second.

Category Page 2: Message from the Bride & Groom

  • You may wish to use this page to welcome your guests to your wedding website.

Category Page 3: Wedding Details

  • Details about your Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Reception including date, time and location. Premium templates have popup pages providing further information and pictures about the Wedding Ceremony, Wedding Reception, and Honeymoon if necessary.

Category Page 4: Wedding Party (3 pages but only counts as 1 page from a pricing perspective)

  • Here you have the opportunity to introduce the wedding party to your guests. It contains names, photos and roles of everyone in the Wedding Party. It is a useful way of giving your guests a heads up on who's who before the wedding day.

Category Page 5: Pre-Wedding Events

  • Here you can include details of pre-wedding events such as:
    • Bridal Shower / Hen Night
    • Bachelor Party / Stag Night
    • Rehearsal
    • Get Together (if applicable)
    • Wedding (just the vital information such as date, time and location; full details can be included on the Wedding Details page).

Category Page 6: Directions

  • Here you can provide your guests with written directions to your wedding venue and reception. A link to an online map can also be included.

Category Page 7: Guest book

  • The guest book page lets people post messages to the website for other visitors to read. When an entry is made, you will receive an email containing the message content, date and time of posting.

Category Page 8: Online RSVP

  • Your guests can RSVP on this page by using a form containing the following fields:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Contact Name
    • Respondent's Email
    • Will attend or will not attend (checkbox)
    • Number of persons attending
    • Names of persons attending
    • Message
  • Additional fields, such as dietary requirements, can also be included.

Category Page 9: Photo Gallery

  • The Photo Gallery page contains a picture of you and your partner and a list of photo albums. The wedding and honeymoon photos are added after the wedding. Albums open up in a new pop up window.

Category Page 10: Our Story

  • Here you can tell your guests about your journey together thus far. This page can contain a His and Her version or be jointly written by both the bride and groom.

Category Page 11: About the Bride & Groom (2 pages but counts as 1 page from a pricing perspective)

  • This page actually consists of 2 pages: 'About the Bride' and 'About the Groom'. You can use this page to give your guests some background information about yourselves. This might include, the places where you grew up, educational or professional backgrounds, favorite foods, hobbies, date you got engaged etc. You can also include a childhood photo of yourselves, if you can find one that's not too embarrassing.

Category Page 12: Guest Accommodations

  • This page provides suggested accommodation for your out-of-town guests. This can be especially useful if you have managed to secure discounts or block bookings with certain hotels.

Category Page 13: Gift Registry

  • This page informs your guests of your Gift Registry, by providing them with a short message and link to your online registry. In some circles it is considered impolite to include details of the gift registry along with your wedding invitation. Having a separate page for your gift registry on your wedding website is a simple and tactful way of bringing it to the attention of your guests.

Category Page 14: Our thanks

  • This page will not become visible until after your wedding. Here you will have the opportunity to say a special thank you to your wedding guests.

Editor's Verdict:

As WeddingOrg.com explain, there are 7 steps to setting up a wedding website with them:

  • Step 1 : View their portfolio of (Flash-based) templates and choose one as your starting point.
  • Step 2 : Decide which pages you would like on your website (see our Features list above). If the page you want is not listed WeddingOrg.com can custom design it for you.
  • Step 3 : Choose and pay for a package (either Premium Package 1, 2, or 3).
  • Step 4 : WeddingOrg secure your chosen "www.***.com" domain name.
  • Step 5 : WeddingOrg designer contacts you to discuss your order and design preferences.
  • Step 6 : WeddingOrg implement your design preferences and publishes a first draft of your site to give you the opportunity to review it. They can implement some further refinements if you wish.
  • Step 7 : When you are satisfied with your wedding website, your site will go live on your "www.***.com" domain name for all your guests to view.

Presumably there is a finite number of refinements you can request the WeddingOrg designer to make to your site between steps 6 and 7 and after it has been launched. Unfortunately, it seems to be impossible to know what that finite number is. When we recently updated our review of this site, the WeddingOrg FAQ said that: "All packages include reasonable updates and changes that need to be done once the draft site has been completed. It is at our discretion to decide if at some point that we need to finish changes and complete your site." This is in contrast to most of our top-ranking sites which have inbuilt design tools, giving you complete control of your website design and content. This means that you can be as pedantic as you like without worrying that you are driving a web designer crazy with your numerous requests.

So if you are a perfectionist who would like to be able to update and expand your wedding website whenever you like, it may not be wise to choose to work with a web designer with a finite amount of time on his/her hands. Alternatively, if you are someone with limited time, deep pockets, and the desire to have a web designer implement a design and content that is unlikely to change in future, then WeddingOrg may be something worth considering.

WeddingOrg.com is strongest on the visual side. Firstly, they can make ordinary-looking photos appear more professional and interesting. For example, they can add an exotic background so that the photo of you in your back garden is transformed into a photo of you on a sandy beach. Secondly, all of their websites are flash-based. This gives a dynamic quality to the site and excels at showcasing those professional-looking photos.

Unfortunately, there is a finite number of photos you can have on your website: the $450 Premium 1 Package allows you to have 64 photos on your site, the $505 Premium 2 Package allows you to have 72 photos on your site, and the $562 Premium 3 Package allows you to have 80 photos. So once again, you are met with restrictions and limits, this time, it is with respect to the number of photos you can have on your site and even whether you can swap certain photos with other photos. WeddingOrg's FAQ says: "We don't mind if you would like to replace pictures on your web pages when we are doing final changes to your website before it is launched." That's between steps 6 and 7, when you are finalizing things with the web designer. However, the FAQ section goes on to say that, "you cannot remove your dating pictures (after the wedding) for example and replace them with wedding pictures. It is fine, however, to swap out a few pictures in respective albums if you change your mind about those pictures. It will be fine to add your engagement pictures, for example, after the site is launched or add any other pictures to various albums at a later date." It is understandable that WeddingOrg.com have to put some kinds of restrictions in place as otherwise their designers would be plagued by infinite requests from an expanding client base. However, we think that most brides and grooms would find it frustrating to be unable to replace their dating photos with wedding and honeymoon photos to make their site more up-to-date. Especially when they have spent a small fortune having a professional web designer create an impressive looking site for them.

On the subject of cost, we also think that you need to get all 14 pages that are mentioned in our features list above (and possibly a couple more, e.g. "Local Attractions" and "Is there a dress code?", etc.) if you want a wedding website that impresses your guests and provides them with all of the information they could possibly need. As indicated in our joining fee section, 12 pages will cost you $562. This is almost ten times more expensive than our top ranked site, WedSimple, and yet the latter gives you the freedom to add as many pages as you like, to make an infinite number of changes to your site using the inbuilt design wizard, to upload an unlimited number of photos, and also provides you with an amazing array of planning tools.

One of the most useful tools provided by WedSimple but absent from WeddingOrg is the guestlist database which is linked to your invitations and online RSVP. While the WeddingOrg RSVP page contains a basic message form, the WedSimple.com RSVP system is much more powerful and linked-up. With WedSimple, each guest receives a unique RSVP ID in their invitation which they can use to securely access their particular entry in the online database; once logged in each guest can say whether or not they are attending, update their contact details, and select their meal preferences from a drop down list which you've pre-set.

The key difference that you need to take note of is that this vital data is structured in a database format in WedSimple.com, whereas with WeddingOrg.com it just arrives as a message and you have to spend time structuring and compiling it yourself in some kind of spreadsheet. So from your perspective, using WeddingOrg's online RSVP facility isn't really that different to asking your guests to reply in a simple email or on the back of a postcard because the data come to you in much the same format. By contrast, because WedSimple.com keeps track of all of this crucial information in an online database, you can easily export all of the information to (i) a simple spreadsheet (if you want to do your placecards and table plans manually), or (ii) a table planning software programme where you can quickly and easily create a scaled floor plan showing not just who's sitting where, but also who's eating what. This kind of system can also help you create placecards: you simply click a couple of buttons, decide what information you want to appear on your placecards (e.g. guests' name, meal preferences, table number, and even seat number are all possibilities) and the software will automatically generate this information on a placecard template. All you need to do is buy some printable placecards and within half an hour you've got your table plans and placecards sorted. These kinds of tools are very easy to use and can save you weeks of manual labour. So now that you've been informed about the wonders of these wedding planning tools, we think that you would be a bit crazy (or a technophobe) not to have these easy-to-use tools integrated into your website architecture. Especially when it won't cost you anything extra: in fact WedSimple is one tenth of the cost of WeddingOrg.

While flash based sites like those offered by WeddingOrg have a dynamic, professional feel to them, they can also be frustrating to use as they are a bit slower to load than static HTML sites (even with a high speed internet connection, most pages we reviewed took 10 seconds to load. The flash sites we reviewed were also harder to navigate than most static HTML sites, as they had lots of hidden menus, pop-up pages and no "go back" button facility. (So after a while we began to feel impatient with the WeddingOrg sites). Many of the websites listed in WeddingOrg's portfolio featured layouts which made the sites difficult to navigate in our opinion. (We don't want to name a particular site out of respect for the bride & groom). We thought that the way the pages were categorized in the drop down menu seemed somewhat arbitrary and made the site more difficult to navigate. Couldn't the "Photo Albums" page just as easily fall under "Preview" as "Participate"?

  • Home
  • Prepare
    • Welcome
    • The Beginning
    • The Journey
    • The Destination
  • Preview
    • The Wedding Party
  • Participate
    • RSVP
    • Gift Registry
    • Photo Albums

We thought that their websites which listed all of the pages separately on a permanent side menu (e.g. the "Avant-Garde" template), rather than chunking them into arbitrary categories on drop down menus, were easier to navigate. So if you are considering ordering a website from WeddingOrg.com it's a good idea to think about its usability from your guests' perspective. They will be less impressed if they have to wait for 10 seconds for each flash page to load and then find that the counter-intuitive architecture of the site hampers their progress further. So if you still like the idea of a Flash-based site, you may want to consider wowing your guests with an impressive Flash introduction, but then keep the rest of the site quite simple and easy to navigate so your guests don't become impatient.

In conclusion, we think that WeddingOrg may be suitable for you if you:

  • are keen on having a flash-based site.
  • want a site that will provide your guests with a limited amount of information and showcase some professional-looking photos of you and your partner.
  • are happy to only have a limited amount of information and photos on your wedding website.
  • are happy to ask a WeddingOrg web designer (in the UK) to make changes to your wedding website, rather than making the refinements yourself instantly.
  • are not interested in having inbuilt planning tools that could be used to help you keep track of the information that your guests send to you (such as RSVP details, meal preferences, etc.).
  • have lots of money to spend.
  • are the type of person who has a habit of not using capital letters (see user reviews below).

However, we think that WeddingOrg will probably not be suitable for you if you:

  • think that flash-based sites are over-rated, slower to load and harder to navigate.
  • would like the freedom to quickly and instantly add, remove or just tweak the content of your wedding website without having to ask a web designer (in the UK) to do it for you.
  • would like the freedom to quickly and instantly add more pages to your site whenever you like because you aren't sure how many pages you will ultimately need.
  • would like the freedom to have an unlimited number of photos on your wedding website and to swap them around as often as you like to keep the site up-to-date.
  • would like to have the option to use inbuilt planning tools that structure your RSVP data thereby helping you when the time comes to create table plans and placecards (either by hand of with 3rd party software such as Perfect Table Planner)
  • don't want to spend a small fortune on the services of a professional web designer when you can create an excellent wedding website using inbuilt design tools; especially when the website also comes with powerful planning tools and costs about one tenth of a WeddingOrg website.

This editor has used WedSimple on her personal wedding website, so she knows first hand just how great it is in every respect. Many of the other top ranked sites in this wedding website category are also excellent, so be sure to have a look at them before deciding whether or not to sign up with WeddingOrg. We think that one of the top 3 ranked sites is certain to suit the needs, tastes and, of course, budget of most people searching for a wedding website.

A fantastic wedding website to use

I disagree with some of the comments made in the Editors Review. I have recently used www.weddingorg.com to design my wedding website and couldn't be happier with the result. Yes I agree that it's not the cheapest service out there, but the quality you get for your money is excellent and I have no complaints there.

Not one of my guests has complained about the pages being slow to load - unless you know people out there who are still on dial up modems, I can't think of many others who would complain.

I agree that there are no planning tools on weddingorg.com, but if you're organised enough you should be able to create and manage your own guest list database. I don't know how many people design their own wedding invitations, but this is definitely not something that I would do through a website template myself.

So in summary, I was thoroughly satisfied with the service and results from weddingorg.com. The communication with the staff is excellent and actions were taken immediately upon instruction from myself and my fiancee.

Couldn't be happier with weddorg.com and would highly recommend them to others!

Great Job

My interactions with the staff of weddingorg.com during my website design was very pleasant. They were always available to talk to and would reply my emails as soon as it was recieved. The time frame I was promised by them to have my website designed and launched was exactly how it happened. They showed a great commitment and were very patient with me and my husband when we needed to make last minute corrections. They are very easy to work and do business with and they do a very thorough job.I am very impreesed with their work and all my family and friends who have been to our wedding website agree with us too. I wish them the very best of what they do.

Thanks Dave and Jennifer for your awesome job.

Awesome Wedding Website

i strongly disagree with the editors verdict, some people do not need all these features you mentioned, we probably need websites for diffrent resons. wedding org provides all that is needed and in opposition what you wrote you do not need $580 to get a good website. i live in the US and they are located in the UK but i did not even feel the 6hr difference in time because they were always there for you. you made all the suggestions and they do all the work so they make you feel like the boss. as for me, my friends and family WEDDING ORG ROCKS.

Best Customer Service & Timely!!!

We totally loved our website. We worked with Jennifer and her team - great customer service!!! they were very efficient, answered all our questions and did everything we asked in a very timely manner - and this was all regardless of the 7 hour time difference. The process was very easy - select your music and photos for the site, your text for the site and send all to them and oh, pick out your template too.  And you are done!

I also like the fact that you can customize your template to your taste- with as many or as little pages and this is especially good if you are on a budget too.

Lastly, I don't agree with some of the editor's points. My hubby and I and our family members didn't experience any delay with loading up the pages and that's just 12 folks alone who clicked on it multiple times in one day! Secondly, this is not a wedding planning site so I am not sure why one would expect to see table planning or a guest database- there are other sites for that. Do what I did - I made a folder in my email inbox and saved all guestbook entries in there (afterall, you get an email every time someone signs your guestbook).

If you want a website that will have your friends and family raving long after the wedding, I would suggest you go with Jennifer and her team (wedding org team). And if you are a newly engaged couple reading this - Congratulations and have fun planning your website (that's one of the easy parts :o).
